I Want to Accept Christ

We believe that the best decision a person can make is to give their life to Christ. To become a Christ follower, we are called to do just that: follow Christ. So what does that look like?

In Romans 3:23 it says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” We all fall short, in our relationships, our decisions, family, with our finances… everything. But we aren’t left without a way out. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus' death paid for the price of our sins. Jesus' resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus' death as the payment for our sins (Romans 5:8).

All we have to do to accept this “Gift” is spelled out in Romans 10:9, “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Because Jesus died for us, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting His death as the payment for our sins - and we will be saved!

Once we give our whole life to Christ, we cannot be separated from His love. Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This gives us absolute assurance of our salvation. Jesus’ work on the cross, his life and resurrection point to eternity with Him. "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).

Here is a simple prayer if you have not yet given your life to Jesus and invited him into yours:

Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. I choose now to turn from my sins, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that does not please you. I choose you. I give myself to you. I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord. Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life, and help me to become a person who is truly loving—a person like you. Restore me, Jesus. Live in me. Love through me. Thank you, God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
